Giving back: Our charities for 2020

It is a new decade and here at Seabrook Clark we have made the decision to have two ‘charities of the year’ for every year going forward and are excited to announce our chosen charities for this year.

With so many good causes out there, our decision was made a difficult one. Last week, the Seabrook Clark team came together to discuss some of the causes closest to their hearts and rally some ideas about the ways we could support and further raise them funds and attention.

After much deliberation we chose one local and one national charity to support throughout this coming year:

FORCE Cancer Charity

FORCE (Friends of the Oncology and Radiotherapy Centre) is an Exeter charity founded in 1987 with the core initiative to support local people affected by cancer. Their work focuses around support services, funding innovation and research.

The charity is a close cause to Seabrook Clark’s Business Manager, Ed Pitman. A sad personal loss to breast cancer a few years ago prompted Ed to get together with FORCE in order to setup bi-annual support days for other relatives who have recently lost loved ones to cancer. The days center around activities and workshops to practically support grieving people in matters of finance, cooking and overcoming anxiety, for example.

Seabrook Clark is proud to support the work Ed and FORCE do in any way possible.

 The Samaritans

With over 201 branches and over 20,000 volunteers across the UK, Samaritans offer support and a listening service to those who need someone to listen without judgement or pressure.

Every six seconds, Samaritans answer a call for help. They are there day or night for anyone who’s struggling to cope. They give people ways to cope and the skills to be there for others, and encourage, promote and celebrate those moments of connection between people that can ultimately save lives.

Seabrook Clark will be supporting their work, both locally and nationally.

Throughout the course of 2020 we will be running multiple events and incentives in order to raise funds and awareness for these fantastic causes, so keep an eye out on our updates and social media and please reach out should you like to get involved.
